Description
A spiny bushy shrub mostly found in hedgerows.
It is one of the first trees to flower in spring with small pale pink flowers from early to mid spring followed by small blue-black ‘sloe’ berries in late August.
Due to its dense, thorny foliage, makes for an excellent natural security hedge.
Growing Conditions:
Grows almost anywhere, even in windswept, coastal conditions.
Value To Wildlife:
Good for insects and provides cover and food for birds and other wildlife.
Important Note:
You’ll receive a 2 year old well established whip that’s between 20 to 60cm in height.
This is a deciduous tree and so will shed its leaves in autumn, in order to protect itself from the cold winter weather. Come spring, it’ll burst back into bud and begin to flourish once more.
