Description

Decimated by Dutch elm disease, the Wych Elm is a rare now days.
A tree that’s tolerant to urban stress, including drought, air pollution and light shade, it prefers rich and well-drained moist, loamy soils and grows in elevations from sea level up to 1500 m.
Having lush green foliage and interesting winged seeds in the autumn, it displays smooth grey bark when young which, becoming grey-brown and fissured after 20 years.

Growing Conditions:
Grows very well on moist, rich soil. It needs a place with plenty of light to grow well.

Value To Wildlife:
Very good for insects.

Important Note:
You’ll receive a 2 year old well established whip that’s between 20 to 60cm in height.
This is a deciduous tree and so will shed its leaves in autumn, in order to protect itself from the cold winter weather. Come spring, it’ll burst back into bud and begin to flourish once more.
