Exmoor Trees is a tree nursery, based in the heart of Exmoor, supplying cell grown trees, shrubs and hedging to a wide range of customers including farmers, local authorities, land owners, landscapers, garden designers, country estates, property and land developers, estate managers, private residences.
Our nursery currently spans a total of 3 hectares, producing 300,000 trees a year, but we are developing the site further and we’re focused on a long-term vision to be a fully sustainable tree nursery; work is well underway to create two irrigation ponds here at the nursery – each reservoir will hold approximately 600 cubic meters of water and over a winter, the plan is they’ll harvest enough to keep all our trees watered over the summer ahead.
We supply young and vigorous cell grown trees and shrubs, most of which are grown from seed at our nursery which is situated at 1,200 feet above sea level in the heart of Exmoor National Park; and as the highest altitude tree nursery in the UK with a more exposed position, the plants we offer are well established, stronger and hardier than those grown at lower altitude nurseries.
With a range of almost 60 species to choose from, which are indigenous to the South and West of England, we offer customer a comprehensive choice of native tree saplings, shrubs and hedging plants, from popular board leaf trees such as Oak, Downy Birch, Beech, Rowan, Willow, Hawthorn, through to nut trees (Walnut, Hazel and Sweet Chestnut) and fruit trees (Crab Apple, Cherry and Wild Pear), as well as blossoming hedgerow plants like Sweet Briar, Honeysuckle and Dog Rose.
As we have a focus on growing cell grown trees from seed, it means we can provide customers with well established, healthy whips which they’re able to plant year round, and means too these hardy young tree sapling have the very best rates of establishment.
And, as we specialise in growing trees native that are localised to the West Country area, we can be confident we are able to fulfil most of our customer’s tree planting requirements.
